Pruritic urticarial papules, also known as papular urticaria, are itchy bumps on the skin that can appear in clusters and cause discomfort. These papules can be caused by insect bites, such as from fleas or bed bugs, exposure to certain plant species, and other environmental factors. Several different terms can be used interchangeably for pruritic urticarial papules, including insect bite hypersensitivity, flea allergy dermatitis, and papular eczema. While the cause of these papules may differ, the symptoms and treatment options remain largely the same. If you experience a rash or bump on your skin that is causing discomfort, speak to your healthcare provider for appropriate treatment options.
