Przewalskii is a specific species of wild horse, named after the Russian explorer Nikolai Przhevalsky. Synonyms for Przewalskii would include the Dzungarian horse, the Mongolian wild horse, the Asiatic wild horse, or simply the takhi. This animal is characterized by its short, stocky frame and a mane that stands upright rather than flowing down the neck. Due to habitat loss and hunting, it was once considered extinct in the wild, but a successful breeding program has led to a gradual reintroduction of the species. These horses are considered a symbol of hope for the conservation of endangered animals and preservation of biodiversity in Central Asia.
