Pseudologue, also known as a pseudologia fantastica, refers to a type of behaviour where an individual engages in storytelling that is not true or believable. There are several different terms that can be used to describe pseudologue, including mythomania, pathological lying, and confabulation. Those who exhibit this behaviour may also be referred to as storytellers, fabulists, or pathological liars. Regardless of the term used to describe the behaviour, it is oftentimes indicative of an underlying psychological condition, such as narcissism, delusional disorder, or borderline personality disorder. It is important to approach individuals who exhibit pseudologue with empathy and understanding, as they may not be aware of their behaviour or the impact it has on those around them.
