Psorophora is a type of mosquito that belongs to the genus of Culicidae family. There are several synonyms for the word psorophora, including Anopheles richardii, Culex fasciatus, Culex melanura, Culex tarsalis amongst others. These synonyms are used interchangeably for psorophora due to their similar physical and biological characteristics. All of these mosquitoes are known to carry various diseases, such as West Nile Virus, encephalitis, and malari which can be transmitted to humans and animals through their bite.
