A psycho-galvanometer is an instrument used to measure the emotional responses of a person through changes in skin conductivity. It has also been referred to as a psychogalvanometer, electrodermograph, or skin conductance meter. This device works by monitoring the electrodermal activity (EDA) of a person which is a measure of sweat gland activity in the skin. Other synonyms for psycho-galvanometer include galvanic skin response device, skin resistance measuring instrument, and emotional arousal meter. The psycho-galvanometer is widely used in psychology experiments to measure changes in physiological responses in people as they respond to different stimuli.
