Pustulation is a medical term used to describe the formation or eruption of pus-filled blisters or pustules on the skin. Various synonyms can be used to describe this condition such as pustules, blisters, vesicles, boils, abscesses, carbuncles and papules. Pustules are small inflamed areas filled with pus, whereas blisters are fluid-filled bubbles that form on the skin surface. Vesicles are similar to blisters but are smaller in size and are usually associated with infectious diseases like chickenpox and herpes.
