Quality Adjusted Life Year or QALY is a widely used metric in healthcare that measures the benefits of medical treatments in terms of both quality of life and length of survival. However, there are a number of synonyms for this term that are used interchangeably, including Disability Adjusted Life Year (DALY), Years of Healthy Life (YHL), and Healthy Years Equivalent (HYE). Each of these terms refers to the number of years of healthy life that an individual can expect to enjoy as a result of medical interventions or other healthcare measures. Ultimately, the goal of all of these metrics is to provide a way to compare the relative benefits of different medical treatments and healthcare interventions.
