"Quarteron" is an archaic French word that was once used to denote someone who is of mixed race. However, the term is now considered derogatory and is no longer in common usage. Instead, there are several contemporary synonyms that can be used to describe someone of mixed racial heritage. These include "biracial", "multiracial", and "mixed-race". These terms acknowledge the diverse racial identities and experiences of individuals with complex heritage. In an increasingly globalized world, it is important to recognize and celebrate the diverse backgrounds that shape our identities, rather than labeling or stigmatizing individuals based on their racial background.
