Raphus Cucullatus is commonly known as the Dodo bird, an extinct flightless bird that was once found in Mauritius. There are several synonyms for this unique bird, including Didus Ineptus, which means "clumsy Dodo", and Didus Mauritius, referring to its origin in the island of Mauritius. Another synonym for Raphus Cucullatus is "dronte", derived from the Dutch word "dodoor" which means "slowcoach". The Dodo bird is also known as the "Walghvogel" or "loathsome bird" in Dutch due to its unusual appearance. Despite its extinction in the late 17th century, the Dodo bird remains a popular subject in literature, art, and science.
