The Redfin Pickerel, also known as Esox americanus americanus, is a species of freshwater fish found in North America. It is a small, elongated fish with a red-tinted or orange-coloring and a distinctive pattern of dark spots along its sides. The Redfin Pickerel can also be referred to as the Redfin Pike, Redfin Pikeperch, or Chain Pickerel. Although it is a popular game fish, it is also considered a nuisance species in some areas due to its tendency to overpopulate certain waters. This fish prefers warm, shallow waters and can be found in lakes, ponds, and streams throughout much of its native range.
