Renierite is a rare mineral that belongs to the family of sulfide minerals. It is a copper-iron-tin-sulfide mineral that usually occurs in hydrothermal copper deposits. Although there are no very common synonyms for renierite, it is sometimes referred to as copper-iron-tin sulfide, copper iron tin mineral or an ore of copper, iron, and tin. Renierite is commonly found with other minerals such as chalcocite, covellite, bornite and tennantite. It usually appears as dull, blackish-gray, and metallic and can be easily distinguished from other minerals because of its distinct crystal structure and composition. Moreover, renierite is prized by mineral collectors due to its rarity and unique appearance.
