The Rhodesian dollar was the currency of Rhodesia from 1970 to 1980. Synonyms for this currency include the rhodollar, Rhodesian pound, and the Rhodesian colonial currency. The rhodollar was pegged at an exchange rate of one-to-one with the British pound and was used as legal tender throughout Rhodesia. After Rhodesia became independent from Britain, the currency was briefly renamed the Zimbabwe dollar, but it was later replaced by the Zimbabwean dollar. The rhodollar is now obsolete, but it remains an important part of Zimbabwe's economic and political history.
