Rhumb is a navigational term generally referring to the line on a nautical chart that connects two different points. This line is also called a loxodrome, a term derived from the Greek words "loxos" meaning slanting and "dromos" meaning course. In addition, some other synonyms for rhumb include "constant bearing", "line of constant bearing" and "steady bearing". It is important to note that rhumb lines differ from great circles, which are actual circles that split the globe into two equal parts. Despite their differences, both of these navigation lines play an important role in seafaring and finding one's way through uncharted waters.
