The rough-toothed dolphin, sometimes also referred to as the Steno Dolphin, is a distinctive species of dolphin found in tropical and warm waters around the world. Though not commonly known, there are a few alternate names for this species of dolphin. In some regions, they are called the Gray's dolphin, named after the Scottish zoologist John Edward Gray. In French Polynesia, they are known as tursiope tropical, while in Japan they are called isana, and in the Hawaiian language, they are known as nai'a. Regardless of the name, this unique species of dolphin can be identified by its dark grey coloring and rough teeth, which distinguish it from other dolphin species.
