Royal absolutism, also known as absolute monarchy, is a form of government where the monarch has unchecked power and authority over their subjects. There are several synonyms for this form of government, including autocracy, tyranny, despotism, dictatorship, totalitarianism, and authoritarianism. Each of these terms describes a system of government where power is concentrated in the hands of a single ruler or ruling elite, with little or no input or influence from the people. While some of these terms may also be used to describe other forms of government, they are all closely associated with the idea of absolute authority and control, reflecting the dangers and potential abuses of such a system.
