The Saale Glaciation, also known as the Saalian Glaciation, refers to one of the three major periods of glaciation during the Pleistocene epoch. This period is characterized by the expansion of ice sheets in northern Europe, covering regions from Britain to Poland and extending as far north as Scandinavia. The Saale Glaciation is sometimes referred to as the middle Pleistocene period and lasted approximately from 300,000 to 125,000 years ago.
