Samotherium is a type of extinct giraffe that lived in Europe and Asia during the Miocene epoch. Though there are no synonyms for the word samotherium, it is important to note that there are several subspecies within the samotherium genus, including Samotherium boissieri and Samotherium major. Additionally, while the samotherium may have gone extinct, its descendants still roam the earth today in the form of modern-day giraffes. Despite the lack of synonyms, the samotherium remains an important species to study in order to better understand the evolution and diversity of giraffid ungulates.
