Satinpod is a term used to describe a flowering plant from the crucifer family, scientifically known as Lunaria annua. This type of plant is also commonly known by other names such as Honesty, Moonwort, Silver Dollar, and Pennywort. Its shiny, disc-shaped seed pods resemble silver coins, hence the name Pennywort. Honesty comes from the translucent membrane that covers the seed pods when they are dried and splits open to reveal the seeds. Meanwhile, Moonwort and Silver Dollar both refer to this plant's distinctive round and silvery pods. Whatever name you choose to call it, satinpod is an excellent addition to any garden and is best grown in well-draining soil with partial shade.
