Scimitar Syndrome is a rare congenital heart defect characterized by the anomalous drainage of the right lung into the inferior vena cava. It is named after the curved sword, Scimitar that the anomalous vein resembles. Alternate names for Scimitar Syndrome include Pulmonary Venolobar Syndrome, Hypogenetic Lung Syndrome, Pulmonary Sequestration, and Veno-Atrial Fistula.
