Scrofuloderma is a skin disease caused by mycobacterial infection. It is characterized by the formation of nodules or ulcers on the skin, usually on the neck, face, and upper body. Synonyms for scrofuloderma include tuberculosis cutis colliquativa, lupus vulgaris, and tuberculosis verrucosa cutis. Lupus vulgaris refers to a type of chronic, progressive tuberculosis of the skin, while tuberculosis verrucosa cutis is a form of the disease characterized by wart-like lesions on the skin. Other synonyms include tuberculosis cutis, tuberculosis of the skin, and TB skin disease. Regardless of the term used, treatment for scrofuloderma typically involves a combination of antibiotics, surgery, and/or other therapies depending on the severity of the condition.
