The word "sea-plane" is a compound word used to describe an aircraft that can take off and land on water. However, there are several other synonyms to describe such a plane. Floatplane, amphibious aircraft, hydroplane, and flying boat are a few examples. Floatplanes use floats to land and take off on the water surface while amphibious aircraft have wheels to land on runways and also the ability to land on water. Hydroplanes are similar to floatplanes but have special features to skim over the water surface while flying boats are large planes that use the hull of the aircraft as a boat and can transport goods and people over long distances.
