Seiurus aurocapillus is a songbird of the family Parulidae, commonly known as the Ovenbird. This species is widespread and common throughout its range, which includes much of North America, from the eastern seaboard to the Rockies. Synonyms for Seiurus aurocapillus include the Northern Ovenbird, Wood Wren, and Groundwalking Warbler. The Ovenbird derives its name from its unique nest-building habits; it constructs a "oven-like" nest on the ground, usually hidden under a pile of leaves or other debris. The bird's brownish-olive plumage and distinctive orange crown also make it easily recognizable. Despite its widespread distribution, the Ovenbird population has declined in recent years due to habitat loss.
