A shared taxi, also known as a collective taxi or a colectivo, is a popular mode of transportation in many countries. In Mexico, they are called peseros while in India they are known as shared autos. In Israel, a shared taxi is called a sherut, while in Egypt, they are referred to as microbuses. In West Africa, shared taxis are referred to as trotros while in East Africa, they are known as matatus. In Thailand, they are called songthaews, and in Turkey, they go by the name dolmus. Regardless of what they are called, shared taxis are an affordable and convenient way for people to get around congested cities and towns.
