Situs inversus is a rare medical condition in which the organs in the chest and abdomen are positioned in a mirror image of their normal location. Dextrocardia refers to the heart being situated on the right side of the chest instead of the left. Anomalous systemic venous return relates to the abnormal location of the veins that bring blood back to the heart. Kartagener's syndrome is a genetic condition that is characterized by situs inversus, chronic sinusitis, and bronchiectasis. Visceral heterotaxy is a broad term that describes a range of conditions in which the organs are misplaced or missing altogether.
