A soda jerker is a term that was commonly used in the early 20th century to describe someone who worked behind the counter at a soda fountain, serving up sweet and fizzy drinks. While this term has largely fallen out of use, there are still plenty of other words that can be used to describe someone who works at a soda fountain, such as a soda jerk, a fountain attendant, a fountain worker, or a soda dispenser. Each of these terms conveys a similar sense of someone who is skilled at mixing, pouring, and serving up delicious soda treats to thirsty customers. No matter what term you use, however, the role of the soda fountain worker is one that has played an important part in American history and culture.
