Sotos syndrome, also known as cerebral gigantism, is a rare genetic disorder that affects growth and development. Some synonyms for Sotos syndrome include Weaver syndrome, Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Bannayan-Riley-Ruvalcaba syndrome, and Simpson-Golabi-Behmel syndrome. Each of these syndromes share similar characteristics with Sotos syndrome, such as overgrowth, developmental delays, and facial dysmorphism. However, each syndrome has its own unique set of features and associated gene mutations. While there is no cure for Sotos syndrome or its synonyms, early detection and supportive care can improve outcomes for individuals affected by these rare disorders.
