The South American Fox, also known as the "pampas fox" or "Argentine gray fox", is a small canid native to the grasslands and forests of South America. Its scientific name is Lycalopex culpaeus, and it belongs to the same family as the domestic dog. There are a few other names that may be used to refer to this fox, depending on the region. In parts of Argentina, it is called "zorro gris" or "zorro gris pampeano". In Peru, it may be referred to as "zorro andino" or "chilla".
