There are several synonyms that can be used to describe this fish, including Yellowfin Trout, Grey Trout, Yellow Bass, and Blue Trout. The weakfish gets its name because it has a delicate mouth that tears easily. The fish can be found primarily along the East Coast of North America from Nova Scotia, Canada to Florida. It lives in shallow, coastal waters and estuaries, preferring a temperature range of 55 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit. The fish is popular among recreational anglers because of its strong fight when hooked.
