SRS, or "surgical resection of a primary tumor or metastases," is a medical procedure that is widely used to remove cancerous tumors from the body. While there are many synonyms for this term, some of the most common include "tumor excision," "surgical removal of cancer," "oncologic surgery," and "cancer surgery." Other related terms may be used, such as "lumpectomy" or "mastectomy" for breast cancer, "prostatectomy" for prostate cancer, or "colectomy" for colon cancer. Regardless of the terminology used, the goal of SRS is to remove tumors in order to improve a patient's chances of recovery and survival.
