St Beda, also known as St Bede, was a prominent theologian and historian in early medieval England. Aside from his name, there are several synonyms that can be used to refer to him. He is often called the Venerable Bede, a title bestowed upon him by later generations to honour his contributions to the Christian church. Alternatively, some people refer to him simply as Beda or Bede. In addition to these names, St Beda is also sometimes referred to as the Father of English History, due to his involvement in chronicling the early Anglo-Saxon period.
