The States' Rights Democratic Party, also known as the Dixiecrats, was a short-lived political party in the United States that formed in 1948. This party was made up of Democrats who were unhappy with their party's stance on civil rights and desegregation. In order to cater to white voters in the Southern states who were opposed to these issues, the States' Rights Democratic Party became a pro-segregationist party. Despite their efforts, the States' Rights Democratic Party ultimately failed to win the presidency or make a lasting impact on American politics.
