Suborder Otides is a scientific classification for birds that are commonly known as bustards and quails. Though this suborder has only two families, a wide range of species are included under it. Some of the synonyms used for the Suborder Otides are Charadriiformes, Galliformes, and Gruiformes. Charadriiformes is a subgroup of shorebirds, while Galliformes comprises mainly of domestic fowl. Gruiformes, on the other hand, includes birds such as cranes and rails. While there are some similarities between these various bird families, they are distinct in their morphology and their habitats. Regardless, all of these families comprise some of the most majestic and fascinating birds in the animal kingdom.
