The Tanoan Language is a group of languages spoken by indigenous people in North and South America. There are several synonyms for the Tanoan Language, including Kiowa-Tanoan, Southern Tanoan, and Tiwa. The Kiowa-Tanoan language group includes Kiowa, a language spoken in Oklahoma, and Tanoan, spoken in New Mexico and other nearby states. Southern Tanoan refers to languages spoken in central and southern New Mexico. Tiwa is a language spoken by people in southern New Mexico and western Texas. All of these languages are endangered and efforts are being made to preserve them.
