Tatouay is a rare species of armadillo found in South America. Synonyms for this little-known creature include "giant armadillo", "big hairy armadillo", and "demon armadillo". These names reflect the animal's unusual size and formidable appearance. At up to 1.5 meters in length and weighing up to 60 kg, the tatouay is not to be trifled with. Its tough, spiky armor provides protection from predators, while its long claws allow it to dig deep burrows for shelter. These burrows are often shared with other wildlife, making the tatouay an important part of the South American ecosystem.
