Tefnut is an ancient Egyptian deity associated with moisture, dew, and rain. There are several synonyms that have been used to refer to Tefnut in ancient as well as modern literature. These include Nut, the goddess of the sky who was also Tefnut's mother, and Hathor, the goddess of love and music who was often depicted as Tefnut's twin sister. Another synonym for Tefnut is Shu, the god of air and one of her consorts who often appears alongside her in Egyptian mythology. Additionally, Tefnut has been associated with Ma'at, the goddess of truth and justice, and referred to as the "Eye of Ra" due to her association with the sun god.
