The Pamirs, also known as the Pamir Mountains or the Roof of the World, is a mountain range located in Central Asia. Other synonymously used names for this region include the Pamir Knot, the Pamir Plateau, the Pamir-Alay Mountains, and the High Pamirs. The area is home to some of the highest peaks in the world, including Mount Everest and K2, as well as a number of ancient cultures and civilizations. The Pamirs are also an important trading hub and have been a route for trade and commerce for centuries, connecting China, India, Central Asia, and the Middle East.
