TOEIC, or Test of English for International Communication, is an English language proficiency exam that measures a person's ability to communicate effectively in the global workplace. There are several synonyms for the word TOEIC, such as the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and the Cambridge English Language Assessment. These exams are widely recognized and accepted by universities, employers, and governments around the world as a means of assessing a person's language skills. In addition, there are also other language proficiency exams such as the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT), the French Language Proficiency Test (DELF/DALF), and the German Language Proficiency Test (TestDaF).
