The turtleneck collar, also known as a polo neck or roll neck, is a style of collar that fits snugly around the neck and extends upwards to cover some or all of the chin. While the term turtleneck is common in North America, the term polo neck is more common in the UK and roll neck is used in Australia. A snood, cowl neck or funnel neck are alternative styles that have similar features to a turtleneck collar. These types of collars can be found on a variety of clothing such as sweaters, dresses, and shirts, and have been popular for both fashion and practical purposes for many decades.
