Typhaceae is a family of flowering plants that consists of only two genera, Typha and Sparganium. Commonly known as cattails, these plants are characterized by their long, slender leaves and brown, cylindrical flower spikes. In some regions, typhaceae is also known as the bulrush family or reedmace family. Additionally, some species are referred to as waterflags due to their flag-like appearance when growing in water. Typhaceae plants have a variety of practical uses, including as a food source and material for basket weaving, as well as being used in traditional medicine for their diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties.
