An ultra large crude carrier (ULCC) is a type of oil tanker that is specifically designed to carry huge amounts of crude oil across the ocean. However, there are many synonyms for ULCC that can be used interchangeably when referring to this type of vessel. Some of these synonyms include very large crude carrier (VLCC), giant oil tanker, jumbo tanker, mega oil tanker, and super tanker. What sets ULCCs apart from other types of tankers is their sheer size and capacity, which can range from 300,000 to 500,000 deadweight tons. ULCCs are commonly used to transport crude oil from the Middle East to other parts of the world.
