A Universal Resource Locator (URL) is a web address. There are several synonyms for URL that can be used interchangeably such as Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and web address. Although the terms can be used interchangeably, there are subtle differences in what each refers to. A URI can be used to identify any resource on the internet, while URL refers to resources that can be accessed via the internet. Additional synonyms include web link, hyperlink, website link, and online address. Regardless of which term is used, they all ultimately refer to the same concept - a way to access resources through the internet.
