We find a bearward attended at Christmas for making sport with his beasts, and in the "Household Book" he is referred to amongst those receiving payments as follows:- "Furst, my Lorde usith and accustomyth to gyff yerely the Kynge or the Queene's barwarde, if they have one, when they custome to come unto him, yerely-VJS.
