Water Oak, also known as Quercus nigra, is a type of oak tree that is primarily found in the southeastern parts of the United States. It is a deciduous tree that can grow up to a height of 100 feet. The leaves of Water Oak have an oval shape and can grow up to 6 inches long. This tree is also known for its rough bark, deep root system and acorn-like fruit. Some other synonyms for Water Oak include Southern Red Oak, Pin Oak, Swamp oak and Red Oak. All these names are used to describe the same tree but are differentiated by their native region or physical characteristics.
