Water shamrock, also known as Marsilea quadrifolia, is a freshwater plant that is commonly found in ponds and other bodies of water. However, there are several synonyms for the water shamrock that are worth noting such as four-leaved clover, European waterclover or simply water clover. It is a low-growing plant with clover-like leaves that float on the water surface or look like they're submerged. Besides that, it has air pockets on the bottom of the leaves that help them to float. Water shamrock is a popular plant as it helps oxygenate the water and provides food and shelter for fish and other aquatic animals.
