"White-man's foot" is a term used to describe non-indigenous plant species that have spread throughout indigenous territories. This term, however, can be seen as problematic as it reinforces the notion that non-indigenous settler-colonial societies have dominion over the land. As such, alternative terms have been suggested to replace "white-man's foot" such as "colonizer's plant," "invasive species," or simply referring to the specific species by their scientific name. These synonyms serve to acknowledge and respect the knowledge and connection to the land held by indigenous peoples while also highlighting the negative impact of human activity on the environment.
