Informally, carelessly, casually, informally, relaxedly or without restraint can all be considered as antonyms for the phrase "with formality." When conversing with friends or acquaintances, a more comfortable approach is generally more favored than a formal, polite one. A friendly conversation, meeting, or gathering typically has little or no formality, and people interact more easily and casually with one another. Using informal language, making jokes, or even laughing aloud is acceptable in such situations. When the situation demands formality, an individual must follow some set rules and regulations. While being formal situations, the idea is to distance oneself socially from the person addressed, and this distance is viewed as a sign of respect.
