Yosemite toad is a species of toad predominantly found in the Sierra Nevada mountain ranges of California. It is recognized by its distinctive appearance, with dark brown or gray coloration and yellow patches on its back. Though commonly known as Yosemite toad, it is also referred to by a variety of synonyms such as Anaxyrus canorus, Bufo canorus, and the western toad. This toad species can be challenging to spot as they hide in rocky crevices or underground burrows during the hot summer months, making them an elusive sight for most visitors to the Yosemite National Park. Yosemite toad is an endangered species and is protected under the Endangered Species Act.
