The term "yuppy" which stands for "young urban professional" came into existence in the 1980s and referred to young professionals who had entered management positions or who were upwardly mobile in their career. However, this term is not in vogue nowadays. There are several other synonyms for "yuppy" that are used in modern-day parlance, such as "millennial professional," "urban elite," "careerist," "white-collar worker," and "corporate climber." These terms have become contemporary and refer to the modern-day young professional who has ambitions to achieve fast-paced success in their chosen career field. Hence, these synonyms are more widely used to describe the young, urban professional in the current age.
