Acanthocereus pentagonus is a cactus species also known by its synonyms such as Acanthocereus spinosissimus and Cereus spinulosus. The plant is mainly found in regions of Central America and the Caribbean islands. It grows up to a height of 10 meters and produces green to yellowish-white flowers that are up to 12 centimeters in length. The stem of the Acanthocereus pentagonus is upright in shape and has five acute angles. The stem's surface is covered with sharp spines that can appear to be dangerous. The plant is also known by its common names; barbed-wire cactus, sword pear, and walking stick cactus.
