Afghanization is a term used to describe the process by which foreign countries attempt to stabilize failed states by transferring control to local forces. However, due to its negative connotations, it has been replaced by other terms in contemporary discourse. One alternative term is "localization," which emphasizes the importance of empowering local communities in decision-making processes. "Indigenization" and "domestication" also convey the idea of ownership and self-determination. However, these terms imply a level of homogeneity that can be inaccurate, given the diversity of cultures and languages within a nation-state. As such, "multiculturalization" and "pluralism" may better reflect the complexities of the process of transferring power and authority from external to internal actors.
